DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide)

DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) was first isolated from cerebral venous blood of rabbits in 1977. It is an amphiphilic nonapeptide (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu) that has been extensively studied for its role in modulation of the sleep-wake cycle, hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis activity, and various neuroendocrine functions.
